Film Studies

This guide provides a general introduction to information resources for Film Studies in Edinburgh University Libraries.

How to find journals, articles and reviews in DiscoverEd

A journal, also known as a periodical, is a publication that contains scholarly articles (also known as research papers) written by different authors (such as your lecturer) on a particular subject topic. Journal articles usually represent current research because compared with scholarly books (also known as monographs), they have a much shorter turnaround time between submission and publication.

In journals you may also find reviews of new works or of other people's research. Book or film reviews can be found in newspapers as well as in journals.

DiscoverEd provides search for titles of all the journals, in print and electronic, that the Library subscirbes to. It also provides direct access to the full text of thousands of e-journal articles.
